About SIS

The Society of Intellectual Sisters was founded on Michigan Tech's campus on November of 1991 by 22 women who were in search of a sisterhood that would last throughout their college years and beyond, and allow them to serve their immediate community to provide a better environment for everyone. Twenty years later SIS is still present on MTU's campus promoting sisterhood, academic excellence, diversity, and above all serving the community.

Members of SIS are focus on learning about and supporting the various cultures and people at Michigan Tech and in the local community. SIS is also dedicated to improving the local Keweenaw community by participating in numerous community service activities during the year.
